
Department Of Sanskrit:
About the department :
The Department of Sanskrit was established very recently in 2005 to
fulfil the academic interests of local students who aspire for Master
Degree in Sanskrit. Many students who passed Honours in Sanskrit from
the colleges under this University could not obtain the M. A. Degree. It
created an academic crisis of a section of students. To overcome the
crisis, the Department of Sanskrit was started at this University.

A
state-level Seminar on “Environmental Thoughts in Vedic and Popular
Sanskrit Literature” was held in February 2008 – in which Professor
Ramaranjan Mukhopadhyay participated to deliver Key-note address.
Future Plan
1.
To open a centre for
studying Sanskrit texts in the Tole-teaching system;
2.
To Publish an Annual
Departmental Journal;
3.
To start a centre for
learning spoken Sanskrit.
4.
To open M. Phil. and
Ph.D. Programmes.
