Biographical Sketch
DR JOYJIT GHOSH is Professor of English, Vidyasagar University, Midnapore, West Bengal. He was the Deputy Coordinator of the UGC DRS SAP Project on the translation, documentation and digitization of Adivasi and folk literature and culture of West Bengal during 2015-2020. He presented papers in many seminars and conferences across the world. He has a fair number of publications to his credit. His published works include articles/book chapters on D. H. Lawrence, Rabindranath Tagore and Mahasweta Devi, among other great minds. His book Imaging D. H. Lawrence: His Mind and Art in Letters (Authorspress, New Delhi, 2012) has been widely acclaimed by Lawrence scholars. The Bleeding Border: Stories of Bengal Partition (Niyogi Books, New Delhi, 2022), coedited with Dr Mir Ahammad Ali, is one of his leading publications. Along with Prof. Scott Slovic and Dr Samit Kumar Maiti, he edited Ecodisaster Imaginaries in India: Essays in Critical Perspectives (Lexington Books, 2023). Recently his article (co-authored with Dr Sk Tarik Ali) titled ‘“Can I become a tree?”: Plant Imagination in Contemporary Indian Poetry in English’ has been published in the special issue on “Critical Green Theories and Botanical Imaginaries: Exploring Human and More-than-human World Entanglements” of the journal Open Critical Studies, edited by Peggy Karpouzou and Nikoleta Zampaki. Imagining Ecocatastrophe: Reading Literary and Cultural Texts in the Global Context, co-edited with Prof. Scott Slovic and Dr Samit Kumar Maiti (Routledge, 2025) is one of his major publications. The latest publication, co-edited with Dr Samit Kumar Maiti and Dr Sk Tarik Ali, is Environmental Crisis and Human Rights: Literary and Cultural Representations, with a Foreword by Dr Amit R. Baishya (Bloomsbury Academic, 2026).
