Pursuant to the National Action Plan of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for performance evaluation, assessment and accreditation, and quality up-gradation of institutions of higher education, Vidyasagar University proposed to form an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The Cell was established on 1st March, 2006.

Mission

Objectives of IQAC
- To develop and sustain an internal quality assurance system through consistent, and planned efforts to enhance the academic, administrative, and societal performance of Vidyasagar University.
- To promote a culture of evidence-based decision-making, academic accountability, and continuous quality improvement across all institutional activities.
- To encourage and recognise excellence in teaching, research, innovation, projects, consultancy, publications, patents, and community engagement through appropriate award and incentive mechanisms.
- To organise workshops, seminars, orientation programs for research scholars and faculty, faculty development programmes, and awareness initiatives on quality-related themes and institutional excellence.
- To establish an effective mechanism for obtaining and analysing feedback from students, parents, alumni, employers, faculty members, and other stakeholders for quality improvement.
- To facilitate the creation of a learner-centric environment by preparing audio-video lectures for students that promote quality education and the adoption of pedagogies and participatory teaching-learning processes.
- To develop and periodically review quality benchmarks and performance indicators for academic, research, administrative, and extension activities.
- To ensure well-organised planning, monitoring, supervision, and optimal utilisation of resources for achieving excellence in teaching and research.
- To create awareness among all stakeholders regarding the code of conduct, quality assurance and quality sustenance in higher education.
- To establish a regular and systematic mechanism for reviewing the performance of academic departments and research centres by internal and external academic audit.
- To promote institutional functioning towards continuous quality enhancement through the internalisation of quality culture and best practices.
Regular Activities of IQAC
- Act as the nodal agency of the University for quality assurance and quality enhancement initiatives.
- Prepare the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR), highlighting quality improvement measures in the academic and administrative activities of the University.
- Coordinate and facilitate the University's participation in national ranking frameworks, including NIRF, India Today, and other ranking agencies.
- Organize workshops, seminars, training programmes, and faculty development programmes (FDPs) on research methodology, research ethics, academic writing, and quality assurance.
- Organize orientation and capacity-building programmes for faculty members and research scholars.
- Evaluate and recommend faculty applications for CAS promotions.
- Monitor the timely completion of curricula and academic schedules across departments.
- Collect and analyze feedback from students, alumni, parents, employers, and other stakeholders; communicate the findings to the respective departments and monitor the submission of ATR.
- Conduct Academic and Administrative Audits (AAA) periodically to ensure continuous quality improvement.
- Facilitate the establishment of national and international MoUs and promote patent filing and intellectual property creation.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of faculty achievements in teaching, research, publications, projects, patents, consultancy, and other academic contributions, with regular updates.
Future Plans of IQAC
- To strengthen interdisciplinary and collaborative research among academic departments and promote national and international institutional collaborations.
- To enhance technology-enabled teaching and learning by increasing the number of smart classrooms and modern digital learning facilities across academic departments.
- To expand outreach and extension programmes aimed at promoting inclusive education and supporting socially and economically disadvantaged communities.
- To implement a fully integrated e-governance system for academic and administrative processes. Full use of Samarth.
- To strengthen collaboration with other national and international institutions.
- To organise more workshops, seminars, FDPs and awareness programmes on quality assurance, accreditation, ranking frameworks (NAAC, NIRF, etc.), API and institutional best practices for the faculty, research scholars of Vidyasagar University and affiliated colleges.
- To promote innovation, entrepreneurship, skill development, and industry–academia partnerships in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
- To strengthen outcome-based education (OBE) and continuous curriculum review and monitoring through academic audits.
- To encourage greater participation of faculty members and students in research projects, consultancy, patents, publications, and innovation activities.
- To enhance the use of digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and data analytics in teaching-learning, research and administration.
