CANTEEN AT VIDYASAGAR UNIVERSITY

Canteen is an important place in the University which not only serves food but creates some unforgettable moments of University’s Life among the students. The daily commuters to the University come from distant places including junglemahal and spent a major time of the day in the campus. It is the mission of the University Canteen to facilitate the students, faculties and staff members with nutritious, hygienic food and refreshments at affordable prices.

         To facilitate hygienic and nutritious food at reasonably priced merchandise and services essential to their comfort and well-being.

Canteens of the University

1. Dulung Canteen

Dulung Canteen is a two storied canteen spread over almost 2000 sq. feet area with seating capacity of 72. It is located near the main gate (Gate-1) of the University. Students, Faculties and Staff Members of the University avail lunch, tiffin, and refreshment here from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM with ready availability of Tea, Coffee and the evening snacks. The Canteen is capable of supplying foods to various events like faculty meet, alumni meet, get-together and departmental seminar/ workshops in its lounge.  Subsidised meal is also available to the students.

2. Aranyak Canteen

Aranyak Canteen is the dining facility of Aranyak Guest House having seating capacity of 50 situated near the Gate-2 of the University. Filled with intense greenery, this canteen truly signifies its name, Aranyak. Mostly Faculties, Officers and Staff Members of the University avail the lunch and tiffin here served within 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Also the guests staying in the campus served meal in the Aranyak Canteen.

3. Bhalo-Mondo

Bhalo-Mondo is a retail counter of Tea, Coffee and snacks. It renders services during 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Monitoring of the Canteen & food quality

  • Regular monitoring of hygiene and quality of food served in the canteen is conducted
  • Feedback system, Complain Box is available for regular surveillance on food quality and services
  • The Canteen Committee periodically access the needs of the stakeholders and accordingly advice to the canteen vendors for achieving the requirements.
  • Every efforts are being made to reduce the wastage of food to a minimum.
